Design and Modeling

Welcome to Design and Modeling! Thank you for visiting my website. I am so excited to teach the PLTW curriculum this year since we are in the mist of some amazing changes! What can you look forward to in this class? Lots of rigorous work, but we will have a lot of fun along the way. Why are we offering S.T.E.M. courses at Coppinville Junior High? It's simple: we have a crisis in this country of high tech jobs in the S.T.E.M. fields that are going unfilled. The solution is to begin concentrating on these fields at the elementary level, through Middle School, and graduating High School with certifications in a variety of fields. We are using the curriculum set forth by Project Lead the Way, a non-profit organization who has been offering S.T.E.M. since the late 1990's.

What can you look forward to? We will study the Design process which all engineers use, and we will actually use it in a variety of ways. We will learn about sketching, dimensions, measurement, different engineering career fields, and we will use the CAD system Autodesk Inventor, and hopefully use our new 3D printer!!!
